Choosing a social media channel should depend on where you can find your target audience – and that might not always be where you expect!
On the whole, Instagram and TikTok are a great place to market products and build brands, particularly if you’re a food & drink business, have an eye-catching product or are into fashion and beauty. That’s not to say it won’t work for businesses in other industries but because Instagram and TikTok are visual platforms, you need to create eye-catching and entertaining content.
Meanwhile LinkedIn is a professional social channel and ideal for B2B businesses and building your own personal professional profile. This platform works well for law firms, accountants, agencies – anyone that does business with other businesses, rather than direct to consumers. Again, if you’re not a B2B business, that doesn’t mean that the professionals on the platform aren’t your audience.
Facebook works well for small businesses, particularly local businesses who can showcase what’s on in the community.
You should also consider your ability to create content. If you have no video experience, diving straight into using TikTok might not be for you.
